Take the pledge to #SkipTheRinse
Canadians are guardians of 20% of the world’s freshwater and it’s up to us to help protect it. With #SkipTheRinse, we are empowering Canadians to make simple behaviour changes during their dishwashing routines to reduce how much water is wasted.
Finish® Quantum Ultimate™ is designed to help you skip the rinse, so your household can save up to 75 litres of water per load. Because when you pledge to skip the rinse, you save more than water. You save a future memory of connecting with nature and your loved ones.
Together, let’s help protect Canada’s freshwaters and our future memories of it.
So farLitres Saved
With 20% of the world’s fresh water, Canada faces a huge responsibility.
With the world facing a freshwater crisis, Canadians need to protect the planet’s precious supply. By making some small changes in our daily lives to reduce our own water consumption, together we can protect Canada’s water for generations to come.

It’s up to us, Canada.
Every country, every economy and every society depend on access to clean freshwater. We have 20% of the world’s fresh water and the world is depending on us to protect it. And Canada is definitely up for the challenge.
What can you do?
Scrape it, don’t spray it people! Clear the food from your plate with a utensil but don’t reach for the faucet. Just by doing this, you could save up to 75 liters per load. And don’t worry, you won’t be left with dirty dishes. That’s what Finish® Quantum UltimateTM is for.
Save water in more ways than one
Knowing where we waste water can inspire us to take positive action. There are many things that each and every one of us can do to reduce our water consumption, and the actions we take as individuals can make a big difference.
When washing dishes
Skipping the pre-rinse is one of the most effective ways to saving water during dishwashing. Your dishwasher and a good detergent like Finish® Quantum Ultimate™ should be all you need to get your dishes sparkling clean. Just remember to scrape any large food pieces off first.
When taking a shower
Try to take a short shower if possible. Half of the water in the shower is wasted while we're shampooing or washing our bodies, so turn the water off while you're getting soapy! It can also be effective to switch to efficient shower heads. If your showerhead was installed befor 1996, you may be wasting up to 20 litres of water per minute!
When taking a bath
Filling a full tub of water isn't a water saving approach, so try to think of baths as a luxury rather than a necessity. Stop running the tap when your tub is three-quarters full - or even half full - so you don't spill any when you step in.
When using the toilet
The toilet flush accounts for a massive 30% of total household water use. Use it only for the purposes it was designed for (so not using it as a garbage bin).
When using the kitchen faucet
When washing vegetables, utensils, or dishware, don't let the water run. In fact, it 's actually more hygienic to soak veggies in the water rather than running them under the tap to wash them. Consider getting an aerator for your tap so it uses less water. It is also important to check for water leaks and fix them immediately.
When using the bathroom faucet
Whether you're shaving, washing your face or brushing your teeth, don't let the water run. Consider getting an aerator for your tap so it uses less water. Make sure to check for leaky pipes in the bathroom!
When doing laundry
Make sure not to under or over fill your machine and get a modern washer so it's both water and energy efficient. Check the appliance regularly for leaks. You might not need to wash your clothes as often as you think, either. Skip the extra rinse at the end of the wash too.
